What is Chronic Bronchitis?
Chronic bronchitis is defined as cough and mucus production lasting at least three months in two consecutive years. The main cause is smoking — but other factors like air pollution, occupational dust exposure, or recurrent infections also play a role. Without treatment, chronic bronchitis can progress to COPD. With early treatment, smoking cessation, and lifestyle changes, we can effectively prevent progression.
