Your role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer (f/m/d) to design, develop, and maintain our data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehouse, dashboards and reports, ensuring that our data is accurate, reliable, and easily accessible. As our first Data Engineer and full time business intelligence hire, you will work independently on various data topics within our Platform Team maintaining and improving our Business Intelligence Infrastructure (Fivetran, DBT, Snowflake, Metabase). You will collaborate closely with other departments in order to empower them with the insights and solutions they need to make data driven decisions, with the ultimate goal of reaching our mission to democratize best-in-class medical care for a healthier society.

Your responsibilities

  • Create and maintain an intuitive and scalable data architecture for our data warehouse to empower every department across product, marketing, and operations
  • Optimize existing and design new data pipelines for efficient and scalable ingestion and transformation of data from a number of different sources
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and ETL/ELT issues
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Ensure data quality and consistency throughout the data pipeline and platforms
  • Identify and implement best practices for data engineering, including version control, testing
  • Develop and maintain a thorough monitoring and alerting system throughout the data pipeline
  • Develop a core understanding of our business to validate data independently
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions to meet business needs
  • Empower departments to build their own dashboards and analytics using Metabase

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related field, preferably in a startup environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, you will be working with various stakeholders from different departments and business areas
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases
  • Experience with dbt and data modeling approaches
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with data manipulation libraries like pandas and numpy
  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehousing platforms like Redshift or BigQuery
  • Experience with Fivetran or similar data integration tools such as Stitch or Talend
  • Familiarity with Metabase or similar data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g.: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full working proficiency with English; German language proficiency a plus
